Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are an intense exfoliating process for your skin. They work by removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and encouraging new ones to grow, resulting in smoother, softer tighter skin.

As we age skin cell turnover slows down from a 6-week to about a 9-week cycle, which results in dull, lacklustre skin. A gentle facial peel not only removes the layer of dead skin cells, but encourages cell turnover to increase. This results in smoother, brighter, more radiant skin with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

In a chemical peel, a mild chemical acid, usually a fruit acid solution, is applied to the skin surface and left there for a short time so that the skin can absorb it. After this time, another chemical solution is applied to neutralise the traces of the acid and raise the pH of the skin to the physiological level required to stop the chemical process.

The types of chemical peels differ based on how deeply the chemical penetrates and what type of chemical solution is used. At RenewYou we use peels from the Toskani Cosmetics range, which are superficial peels, also called ‘refreshing’ or ‘lunchtime’ peels.

Mesotherapy combined with chemical peels

This treatment gives very good results as the peel gently removes dead skin cells prior to the mesotherapy, which delivers nutrients and hyaluronic acid at the layer of skin where cell renewal is taking place.
